The World Health Organization (WHO) organized a regional workshop to introduce the WHO new growth curves in countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region, in Muscat, Oman, from 12 to 14 September 2005.

The objectives of the Workshop are: to orient national nutrition, maternal and child health, senior health programme managers about the new growth curves; and to develop a regional plan of action for the implementation of the new growth curves.

Experts from Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq Jordan, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syrian Arab Republic, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Yemen; as well as WHO concerned staff participated in this Workshop.
